Overview

A dark, image-first template for photographers: full-bleed galleries, quiet typography and room for client stories. It was designed for photographers whose work needs room to breathe: full-bleed galleries, quiet typography and nothing competing with the image.

The challenge

Most photography themes bury great work under sliders, popups and stock icons. Umbra removes all of it, while still giving working photographers what they need: proofing galleries, print pricing and a blog that actually gets read.

Approach & solution

A near-black canvas with warm grey text keeps attention on the photographs. Galleries lazy-load at full resolution, stories use a reading measure tuned for long captions, and the contact flow asks for date, venue and budget — so enquiries arrive qualified.
